A Histocherrical Study On HBsAg in Paraffin section of Acute and Chronic liver disease

Abstract
|
|
|
Liver biopsies from 18 acute hepatitis and 78 chronic liver disease were stained by a modified orcein method described by Shikat et al. in order to detect the HBsAg in liver tissue. The results obtained were discussed and summarized as follows:
Liver biopsies from 18 patients of acute hepatitis were consistently negative. Three of the 21 chronic persistent hepatitis and two of the 12 chronic active hepatitis were positive. Three of 28 liver biopsies showing cirrhosis were positive and in the liver cell carcinoma there is positive result in three of the 17 biopsies.
